Acne can prove an extremely distressing condition for people of all ages. Often thought of as a teenage affliction, this is far from true as many people are plagued with it throughout their lifetime.
There are thought to be many different reasons for a person to suffer from acne, but a definitive diagnosis has yet to be reached. Research has shown that there are many factors, including hormones, stress, vitamin deficiency and diet. What is known is that acne is caused due to blockage of the hair follicles in the skin by natural oils (known as sebum). These oils are created by the sebaceous glands.
